we had a really good weekend...

the girls had a HUGE show on Friday night. they are part of the young artist's conservatory here in town. they both take piano, and are part of the musician's theater group. the show was a collection of songs with 'sea' themes (peter pan, pirates, titanic, etc...). sammie did a GREAT job on her piano piece, and alex was FABULOUS in her 9 scenes (piano and singing). a late night, but one of the more entertaining shows the conservatory has presented. my mom was in town, and our friends diane and susie (and of course the baldwins...their daughter hannah was also in the show - YAY HANNAH!) joined us. our family went out to mel's diner afterward and then home to a LONG night's sleep.

after a WONDERFUL sleep-in session, saturday was full of birthday shopping for sammie, mani/pedi for mom and nona and then off to sacto for an afternoon with some old friends. that evening we actually just vegged at home. nice.

sunday, mom and i were off to the airport early, early for her 7:30 flight. the afternoon was a really nice time of swimming, chatting and playing music at the ranch. very mellow, and actually very productive. we got some big decisions made and are a few steps closer to cutting a demo. YAY!!! alex got to spend the night at a friend's and so rich, sammie and i stopped at mary's pizza shack on the way home for their LOVELY garden ranch pizza with baby clams.

a moment of peace in the midst of the storm...thank you to those of you that are praying and sending positive thoughts our way. i think this weekend was an answer to those prayers, so i wanted you to hear about the fruit of that :-)
